Author Topic: Resizing?  (Read 1162 times)

Hi there! Not sure if this is possible... is there a way to resize pics so that they'll print a specific size? For example, can I resize my picture to an 8x10 (so that it will print as an 8x10 without anything getting cut off)? I know the crop tool allows you to crop to a 4x6, 8x10. etc., but you lose half of the picture. I'm wondering if I can resize (instead of crop) so that nothing gets lost. Can anyone help? TIA!

Hi there,

Thanks for writing in, Im sorry to hear about the printing troubles. Each photo has what is called an aspect ratio. If you want to be able to print your photo at 4x6 or 8x12 you first must crop the photo to this ratio before sending it to print. If you change the pixel dimensions without cropping, this will distort your image.

If your images are at the 5x7 ratio to start, they will have to be cropped to fit the 4x6 ratio. If you are able to crop the photos yourself, this will allow you more control over where and how your photo is cropped.

Once you have a crop you like go ahead and save the photo and it should be ready for print Smiley

I hope this helps!

Hi Chelsea,
Thanks for the response! I'm shooting with an SLR, so I guess they're automatically sized for 4x6...? When I try to change to 5x7 or 8x10, I lose so much of the picture, I can't print it (even when I do the cropping- I can't fit enough in to make it worth printing). There's nothing I can do about this, is there?
Thanks!

This has been exactly my problem.  When I upload a picture it is usually already what I want to print, compositionally.  I want to be able to print it at 4x6, 5x7, 8x10, etc.... without losing any of the originally uploaded image.  Is this possible?
