Author Topic: ND Filter Effect  (Read 19 times)

Saw this demo'd in Lightroom 2 last fall.  I tried to duplicate it using the Dodging tool but could not get enough strength in it to do the job.  Curves helped but then blew out the well exposed part of the photo I was working on but corrected the underexposed area.

A good split neutral density filter would be great to use.  Set it and then control the top and/or bottom half exposer easier than with curves. Yes?  Smiley

Thanks for the suggestion.

One thing you might try now is to use the Curves as you had, but rather than apply the curve to the entire image, use the Paint Effects brush to only apply the effect to the top (or bottom) half of the image.  It should be fairly quick to brush in the change to only the area where it is needed.

Hope this helps!
