Now that the holidays are behind us and everyone is back to work we're cranking on great new features for Picnik. This release much of our time has been spent on infrastructure stuff to make Picnik faster, more reliable, and able to handle greater numbers of users without breaking a sweat.
New Server! Picnik now lives in shiny new hardware at a new location with a nice fat pipe connecting it to the internet and Picnikers everywhere. Here's a photo of Picnik's new home and the newest member of the Picnik team, Justin. Welcome aboard Justin!
Flickr account no longer required. We receive a lot of requests from people who want to use Picnik but don't have a Flickr account. We've upgraded our account system and now one click is all it takes to get going with Picnik. You can also create a Picnik account that you can log in to from any computer with all your settings and photo editing history intact.
New look! We like the 'picnic' theme because it's fun so we're building it in to give Picnik a light-hearted feel we hope you'll enjoy. Let us know what you think of it.
Perfect Memory(tm) Now when you save a photo not only do we save the edited photo but also the original and a record of all your edits. Next time you open the photo you can pick up editing right where you left off, undo and redo changes, even undo all the way back to the original! A fantastic side-effect of this is that you can save, open, and re-save a photo as many times as you want with absolutely no loss of quality.
Browser History, deep links. We've watched too many people reflexively hit the browser back button while using Picnik and not end up where they thought they would. Now it should work the way you expect it to. Another benefit of this change is that you can bookmark most pages in Picnik and return directly to them. We're cooking up some other cool ways to take advantage of this -- stay tuned.
Printing! OK, we've just taken the very first baby steps into printing. It's useful for limited scenarios and we'll keep adding to it until we have great support for printing your photos.
Of course we continue to squash bugs as we find them. Some people were having problems saving images that included accented characters in the their title, description, or tags. Fixed!

Happy Picniking!
